When a person goes into suicidal crisis, it’s not about dying – it’s about stopping the pain. Ember of Hope believes all of us contain transformational energy; if supported in the right way, a suicidal crisis can be a time of growth.
Moving Through the Seasons is a stigma-free gathering designed for formal (e.g., health care workers, youth workers) and informal helpers (e.g., caretakers, friends, family members) in rural or First Nations communities. Participants will learn about suicide and the signs of suicidal crisis. They will become equipped with holistic tools to help a person in crisis and strategies to keep them safe. To gain a broader context, helpers will also learn about the main contributing factors to higher rates of suicide in First Nations.
